plants kept dying on me 🌿 (100% off)

Hey Reader,

Before I moved to Sweden, I was a Certified Plant Killer. 💀

It wouldn’t matter what plant I had, how careful I was in looking after it, or the season of life I was in, every plant I owned would die on me.

“I must just be cursed or something,” I’d say. (I’d be real ‘woe is me’ about these plants. 😅)

When I moved, I bought a couple of plants for my new flat—and I called them ‘Leafy Boy’ and ‘Sunny Boy’. 🪴

That was five and half years ago and Sunny Boy is now FOUR separate plants and Leafy Boy is still going strong. 💪

I also have:

  • another small plant that I grew into three separate pots 🌿
  • a houseplant gifted to me by my partner’s grandma two years ago, still thriving 🪴
  • a total of 11 plants inside and five on the patio to look after 💚
  • and three small pots of flower seeds growing on my windowsill as I type 🌱

I was thinking about what changed—what turned me from Plant Killer into Plant Person? 🌿

And I think the answer is simply: curiosity & knowledge. ✨

Instead of just watching my plants slowly die and lamenting about how shitty of a plant caretaker I was, I started to:

  • Look up the symptoms of what was causing my plant to look like it was one cigarette away from a heart attack
  • Understand signs that my plants were starting to outgrow their pots and needed repotting
  • Learn how much my plants actually needed watering (& when I’m overwatering them)
  • Use an app to diagnose any plant diseases that were cropping up so I could treat them

I think the same thing can happen with people’s affiliate programs.

They start their program. It doesn’t work as expected. They put it down to affiliates not working for them.

When I’ve worked with clients in the past (be it through projects or my membership), it doesn’t take a lot of digging to see where their programs are falling short.

Of course, it’s easy for me to figure those things out being an Affiliate Wizard and all. 🧙‍♂️

But for my clients (and maybe for you!), they’re starting from zero like Plant Killer Zoe. Not sure what’s working, not sure what isn’t, and not getting results either way. 🙃

Affiliate programs can stop working for so many different reasons—it just takes some curiosity & know-how to figure out what's up.

Is it that:

  • Your affiliates aren’t actually promoting? (engagement problem)
  • They’re promoting but getting no clicks? (messaging problem)
  • They’re getting clicks but no sales? (conversion problem)
  • You’re getting sales but not tracking them properly? (tech problem)

Each of these requires a completely different fix. But how do you know which problem you’re dealing with?

That app I was talking about? The one that would scan and diagnose my plants? 🩺

I kinda created something similar to help you with your affiliate program: Revamp Your Referrals.

Since you already own Revamp Your Referrals, this is your reminder to actually go through the process yourself and spring is the perfect time to finally run through that assessment spreadsheet.

You should have received an invite to Revamp Your Referrals in Circle - if you haven't already, feel free to let me know and I'll sort it out!

Because I believe everyone should have thriving affiliate programs (& plants)! 🪴

Warmly,
Zoe 💛
